Venesection

Chequers Health Group now offers Venesections. A Venesection is the removal of blood from a vein (amount determined by blood test) and is used as a treatment for certain blood conditions. It helps to reduce the number of red blood cells in your blood which may be needed to reduce your iron levels or to bring the thickness of your blood to a safe level.

Conditions we treat:

• Haemochromatosis (excess iron storage)
• Polycythaemia vera, erythrocytosis and high haemoglobins (sluggish blood flow)
• Thrombosis (Blood Clot)

The number of Venesections you need depends on your condition but as your condition improves you will need to come less often. Our Specialist Clinicians will stay with you throughout the procedure. Following the procedure most people carry on as normal after they have left.
