Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is characterised by excessive sweating in specific areas such as the armpits, forehead, palms of the hands, or soles of the feet. This genetic condition can significantly impact social interactions and relationships due to the discomfort and embarrassment it causes.

Understanding Hyperhidrosis:

Hyperhidrosis manifests as abnormal and unpredictable sweating in certain parts of the body, disrupting normal daily activities and causing social anxiety. Seeking medical attention is advisable for those experiencing excessive sweating to rule out any underlying medical conditions.

Axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating in the armpits) or palmar hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating in the palms) can lead to social and occupational challenges for some individuals. Approximately 1% of the population suffers from excessive sweating due to genetic factors. Our experienced Consultants and Nurses employ minimally invasive treatments to target sweating from the overactive sebaceous glands.

Anti-Sweat Injection Treatment:

The anti-sweat injection treatment involves administering small injections at multiple points in the affected area. These injections reduce the electrical signals from the nerves responsible for producing sweat. Patients typically notice a significant reduction in sweating within 7 to 10 days after treatment. It is recommended to undergo this treatment once or twice a year, preferably at the beginning of spring or summer.

Unlike conventional medications that provide temporary relief lasting only hours, anti-sweat injections offer long-lasting results lasting for months. They function by reducing sweat production, preventing the accumulation of sweat in the body.
