Depression is a mental condition that is prevalent in society and known to manifest itself in a constant melancholic feeling, hopelessness, as well as loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities.   • Constant depression or dejection

  • Lack of interest or enjoyment of previously enjoyable activities
  • one starts feeling worn out or devoid of energy, even when the person is rested
  • Appetite changes, overeating or under-eating
  • Sleeping problems – insomnia, or oversleeping
  • Problems with focusing, thinking or decision-making
  • Worthlessness, hopelessness or guilt Feelings
  • Frustration or irritability even about trivial things
  • Physical complaints: pains, aches, or an upset stomach of no definite reason
  • Social withdrawal- staying away from friends or other family members or activities

Risk Factors

And in case the close relative has experienced depression, you are at greater risk because of genetic factor.

A stressful early life like emotional, physical or sexual abuse may predispose the brain to depression in later years.

Continuous stress and not killing oneself can be caused by long-term illness, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer or chronic pain.

Abuse of alcohol or other drugs may cause an outburst of, or aggravate depressive conditions as well as complicate treatment.
