Paediatrics

Our Paediatric service provides a range of medical and minor surgical clinics for children.  This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Respiratory diseases
  • Musculoskeletal
  • Gastroenterology
  • Urology
  • Heart treatments

We are privileged to have a senior NHS Paediatric Consultant who personally provide surgical consultations and appropriate day case surgery. (not requiring general anaesthetic)

In addition, Chequers Health group deliver a infant Circumcision Service to meet the cultural and religious needs of the local population.

The service was introduced because of the request made by the Bolton Council of Mosques (BCOM). The service is welcomed by the local community and is of special benefit to the Muslim population as most male babies are circumcised on religious grounds.

This service is for babies between 2 weeks to 18 months of age.

Both parents are asked to sign an informed consent for their son’s procedure, and both must be in attendance on the day.

A plastibell procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic using lidocaine. The procedure takes place in a dedicated minor surgery room. Parents may be allowed only on special permission.

Parents are given written advice and information. They receive a follow-up telephone call a few days later. No further follow up is arranged but all parents are encouraged to ring back if there is any concern at all until the ring falls off.
