Wart & Verruca Removal
Looking for Wart Removal near you?
Warts are small, firm lumps that often appear on fingers, knuckles, or palms, while verrucae form on the soles of the feet or toes and may cause discomfort when walking. Warts are typically not painful but can be itchy, while verrucae feel like standing on a needle.
Both are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and can spread through skin contact or contaminated surfaces like pool floors or showers. Scratching can spread the virus to other areas of the skin.
Treatment Options:
- Cryotherapy (Cryosurgery): Liquid nitrogen is applied to freeze the wart, often requiring multiple treatments over a few weeks.
- Surgical Excision: Warts are shaved or clipped off using a scalpel. This is commonly done for filiform warts.
- Electrosurgery and Curettage: The wart is burned off using electrocautery and scraped away. These treatments may be used alone or together.
The procedure is quick, usually lasting only a few minutes, with minimal discomfort. Anaesthesia may not be necessary, as the healthy skin surrounding the wart is unaffected.
