Thread Veins

Thread veins, also known as spider veins, commonly appear on the face and legs but can occur anywhere on the body. While not dangerous, they can affect confidence if left untreated. Seeking early treatment is advisable, as they can sometimes signal an underlying medical condition.

Facial thread veins are tiny blood vessels near the skin’s surface, appearing as thin red, purple, or blue lines due to vessel enlargement or breakage. Causes include sun exposure, weather changes, alcohol consumption, hormonal shifts (e.g. pregnancy), and genetic predisposition. Individuals with rosacea may also be prone to facial thread veins due to red, flushed skin.

Laser treatment effectively eliminates thread veins by directing light at them, heating them rapidly to break down and collapse. Some bruising may occur as the damaged vein dissolves and is naturally removed by the body’s immune system, leaving clear skin.

Treatment plans vary based on thread vein size and quantity, determined during a consultation with our Consultant. A typical recommendation is a course of 6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart, though individual needs may differ.
